MPC Judging Process for Members and Judges
Morris PhotoColor Club (MPC) competitions are held in two categories for each member class: Assigned Subject and Open. The topics and definitions for the assigned subjects can be found on the club’s website. The Open category allows participants to submit any image regardless of subject matter. Image editing is permitted. All images must adhere to the club’s guidelines regarding AI usage.
Judging Rounds:
- First Round:
The judge provides feedback and constructive critique on each image. This feedback is meant to help participants improve their skills, fostering a learning environment.- Each image is scored either a 6 or 7 (“out” or “in”).
- Images scoring a 7 move on to the second round.
- Images that don’t fit the assigned subject or don’t adhere to the AI policy may be disqualified.
- Second Round
In the second round, images are scored as 7, 8, or 9:
-
- Images scoring a 7 do not receive an award but may be resubmitted in future competitions.
- Images scoring an 8 receive an Honorable Mention.
- Images scoring a 9 receive an Equal Merit award.
Minimal feedback is expected in this round. Feedback on why an image remains a 7 is appreciated but should be brief/concise.
There is no limit on the number of awards given.
Scoring Guidelines:
- 9 (Outstanding): Images that stand out with strong impact and artistic vision and are nearly flawless technically.
