Whose Sky Is It Anyway?

“Excuse me…may I borrow one of your skies? I need it for a landscape I shot. I love the image but the sky is drab and lackluster with no clouds.” May I borrow a sky? Who’s he talking to…God? I know this whole scenario sounds ridiculous, but it’s happening every day in the world of photo editing. No, he’s not going to borrow a sky from God. He’s going to get it from a fellow photographer, a website, a preset in a piece of editing software, or maybe even from his own files. The process is known as sky replacement and it’s done all of the time.
